State Reps and Senators have no power to move a bill forward. They can only present it.

Then it moves through a committee where it is controlled by the chairman of that committee.  See House Committee ChairsSenate Committees

Then it moves to the House or Senate floor, where it is controlled by the house speaker, house floor leader, senate president, and senate floor leader.

No member can get anything done unless leadership moves filed legislation. All members can only file a bill or speak on a bill. It is leadership who gets things into law. So be prepared to email or call our state leaders:

Jon Patterson-R will be the new Speaker of the House starting Jan 2025

????  Senate President Pro Tem - (Caleb Rowden has termed out)

Cindy O’Laughlin-R, Senate Majority Floor Leader - 573-751-7985 -   cindy.olaughlin@senate.mo.gov,
