Hello Neighbor! & Happy New Year!

2024 year is a big year for our country. Some even say it is the last chance to save our freedoms, our constitution, our prosperity, and our republic. We need some good election outcomes and it will take all of us working together, being informed voters, and turning out to vote.

‍      In 2022, 150,000 registered Republicans in Nevada didn’t vote. Republicans lost by 8,000. In Oregon the story was similar. Even in a blue state like Oregon, Republicans could have won if they ALL would have voted. We must find a way to get all Republicans out to vote next year - early voting, vote by mail, absentee ballots, day of voting — everything! Next election, help a Republican vote.

‍     Right now there are thousands of Republicans on the county voter roll for which we have no contact information. We are here to inform people and to remind them to vote. Please help us get in touch with these voters. If you are willing to knock on doors of Republicans in your precinct and get their email addresses for us, please let us know — editor@jacomonews.org

Jackson County Property Tax Update

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey and the State Tax Commission are suing Jackson County over property tax mess. This suit is asking a judge to stop tax collection and declare more tax increases as void. It even demands monetary damages for some homeowners. The suit contends that the assessments were unlawful because state law requires physical inspections and proper notice. In the meantime, the State Auditor and the State Attorney General has encouraged people to pay their taxes (because they are legally required to) READ MORE

November Election Results - Jackson County Question #1

See what we can do when we work together and get out and vote!

Thanks for getting to the polls and voting NO for Jackson County Question #1 in Nov. The county only expected 3% voter turnout, but there was a 10.45% turnout in KC, and 14.66% in Jackson County. Kansas City voters supported it, about outside of the City, voters turned out to vote it down! 23,478 YES / 34,043 NO. The county spend $1,023,821 to hold this election in an attempt to tax us more. But we beat them! Maybe people are tired of being overtaxed in our county.

Question #1 would have imposed a 1.5% tax on all purchases from out of county. This would have been mainly a tax on online purchases—like everything from Amazon. However, Jackson County has access to $66 million  from the Fed’s American Rescue Plan, which they will have to use by the end of the year or it will go back to the Federal Government. But since the County Executive and the County Legislature can’t agree on how to spend it, they will probably lose it. the County actually has multiple millions of dollars they can use, but they keep wanting to raise our taxes. The Legislature keeps spreading the rumor that Jackson County is short on money, yet they want to fund a new baseball stadium, and put a park over I-670.  Read much more about all this on Stacy Lake’s facebook page.

Jackson County Legislature still undecided on tax for new stadium

The year ended without our county legislature deciding whether to extend a 3/8ths of 1% sales tax to build a new stadium for the Chief and Royals here in Jackson County. This tax would be extended for 40 years, but will take voter approval. The April 2 election date is when this referendum might take place. Stay informed. The Royals are also considering Clay County and the Chiefs are being wooed by the Kansas side.  READ MORE

Frank White Recall update

This is a bi-partisan effort. Many people in Jackson County are participating in collecting signatures of registered voters in Jackson County to force a recall of Frank White for the outrageous behavior of his office and the County Assessment Office. They are hurting people all over our county. Our county assessor, by the way, is the only one in the state who is not elected by the people. Our State Legislators need to fix this.

Call the county GOP HQ (816) 875-9690 to locate a petition to sign.

Missouri needs SCHOOL CHOICE!

Have you ever seen Missouri schools being ranked below Arkansas or Mississippi? The Heritage Foundation’s Education Freedom Report Card shows Missouri below Arkansas, Mississippi and Iowa. It’s interesting to note that states that have passed full school choice have raised their rankings. State Senator Bill Eigel files Proposal to Change Initiative Petition Process

Many Missourians agrees that we have a poor system for changing our state constitution. Right now it takes a simple 50%+1 of the vote to pass a bill that goes into law and into the constitution. This gives enormous power to Kansas City and St. Louis and often their votes make the difference, with the rest of the state opposed, but losing. Different proposals were made in the last session to change the process, but all failed to pass both houses.

This is an important issue to consider right now because we most certainly will have attempts on the ballot this Fall for abortion and same-sex marriage to be put in the constitution. READ MORE

The Jackson County Republican committee

is working hard to get our message out to the voters. The Democrats will NEVER be able to give you prosperity. Their policies, which are counter to prosperity, are all about control, regulations, and power to the elite few, which also means no freedom for you. They’ll never be able to give you safety because they love criminals more than law-abiding citizens.
